Helldivers 2 made me quit PvP games
I'm not sure if this is just me. But I noticed this recently and thought it was worth sharing: After playing this game for a year, I just can't look at PvP games the same.
It's been getting harder and harder to play casually in these more competitive shooters - if you don't practice consistently and don't use the best loadout, you aren't playing to your best and are crushed by skill-based matchmaking.
Plus - PvP games USUALLY make people more toxic. This isn't always true, but it's really easy to get mad at another person, or even your own friends. It's hard to have fun consistently because your lobbies are controlled by some rank system or by a hidden algorithm.
PvE games like Helldivers really hit the spot recently. Being able to play WITH people, not AGAINST people, completely changed the way I interacted with gaming. I hope we get more PvE in the future, and less of the competitive rank-grind we see in other games.
