I liked Sniper Elite 5 and Sniper Elite Resistance very much!! But they just didn't have what I expected or wanted from a game where you play as a sniper. It didn't feel centered around being a sniper at all
I discovered these games about 3 weeks ago, and played both Sniper Elite Resistance and Sniper Elite 5.
While they were definitely fun games, they just didn't have what I wanted. I didn't feel like a sniper, there wasn't really any good opportunities to really be a sniper. The gameplay felt more centered around sneaking and stealth. And though the maps were large, they didn't feel *right*, I never found a good sniping spot. If there was a tower or a window to snipe from, the angle was very limited, there was usually trees blocking the view so you could barely snipe past 100m. If there was a high ground place, the walls were placed in such a way that you couldn't look over them. The best map for sniping in my opinion was the Spy Academy in SE 5, I absolutely love that map. But all the other ones just felt off.
Occupied Residence (SE5) had real potential to be a good sniping map. In the mission Loose Ends (which takes place at the same location as Occupied Residence), you are laying on a cliffside overlooking the mansion. THAT was an excellent position, and I was really disappointed to find that I couldn't acces that location in Occupied Residence. And any high ground or vantage point you come across is packed with trees and bushes around it, so you can barely see anything.
War Factory also had good potential, but there is barely an enemy in sight from your main spawn area. No, I was very disappointed by this.
Same follows for Resistance, barely a spot where I could have a nice overlook, with more than 3 enemies to shoot.
All in all though, I enjoyed the games, but I fancy something more akin to the Sniper Assassin game mode in Hitman World of Assassination.
